Our team works diligently to ensure we are contributing to the health of the environment. Initiatives and practices are in place to minimize the impact the Palmer Events Center makes. We have achieved a lot in waste diversion and energy conservation, and we are always looking to do more.
Sustainable Results
Thanks to Austin Energy’s Green Choice Program our venue is running on 100 percent renewable energy. Our extensive recycling, reuse and composting program is diverting 50 percent of all waste generated away from landfills.
Offsetting Carbon
- We are carbon-neutral for 2013 - 2017 following purchases of 3,450, 3,570, 2,860, 1,809, and 1,819 carbon offsets for each respective year.
- Purchased carbon offsets are third-party verified.
How do we sustain?

- >150,000 watt reduction from efficient lighting fixtures
- 17,000 pounds of old carpet recycled
Leave the Car at Home
Cruise on over on a MetroBus. It stops right in front of us. Once you get off the bus, go all around the area with a taxi, scooter, bike, or car-sharing service. The modes of transportation that are not your own are plentiful where we are.
Clean Air, Clean Environment
Green Seal certified products are used to clean our smoke-free facility to avoid introducing harmful volatile organic compounds (VOCs) in our air. We have an Integrated Pest Management system utilizing baits and traps to reduce the use of harsh chemicals to keep our venue tidy. In accordance with the City of Austin’s ban, we do not use Chlorpyrifos and Neonicotinoids at our facility.
Continual Education on Sustainability
Management and staff pick up sustainable techniques from our compliance officers. Once these techniques are learned, these behaviors are not only practiced in the facility but at home, as well.
